Why Horse Camp? Horses and Exercise!
We invite you to bring your children to the Wildwind Equestrian Center, to make memories, meet new friends and be exposed to a healthy sport that develops physical fitness and a love for animals. With busy parents worried that their children are not getting enough exercise, English riding is the perfect answer. According to a recent study, a one-hour English riding lesson is the same as a 45-minute aerobic workout. Students who continue riding can look forward to participating in junior and high school equestrian teams in most area schools.
Why Wildwind Horse Camp?
- 15 years of camp experience
- A perfect safety record
- Well educated experienced instructors
- The best program for beginners and intermediate riders in the area
- And most of all the Horses!
We have more than 40 horses and ponies used year round in our schooling program; this allows us to choose a safe mount for the student's riding level. The children will always be riding a horse that we own. We have enough horses for beginner and intermediate riders because teaching is our business year round.
Regular Horse Camp / Ages 7-16
Wildwind Equestrian Center's summer horse camp is more than a way to fill a summer day; it's a chance for a horse-crazy student to spend the entire week with horses. Why do kids come to horse camp? To ride, and we provide more riding time than anyone else. Camp week ends with a horse show and picnic for family and friends.
Camp is offered for beginners through canter riders in weekly sessions. Students are grouped according to ability. Each group rides at least twice per day. Along with riding lessons, students try other skills on horseback such as vaulting, games and obstacle courses. Horse care, grooming, saddling, medical care and much more are taught daily. Weather is never a problem since we have both indoor & outdoor arenas.
Jump Camp for Current Jump Students / Ages 7-16
Students will be split
into groups on the first day of camp: riders currently jumping at least 2', and those
jumping 2' 3" to 2' 9".
Students will work to make major improvements in jumping, equitation, and
show skills. Jump camp will move at a brisk pace for the week.
Guest instructors may come in to bring different points of view to the students. Jump Camp Note: Students
not currently riding at Wildwind must call ahead, and may need to schedule an evaluation ride
prior to registering for jump camp.
Camps may be combined if less than 6 enroll.
