Introduction to Horses:

You will need to call in advance for reservations. You will all have a riding lesson. All parents must sign a libility form.
After your first visit to Wildwind Equestrian Center you will have all the information to complete your Horse Fan Badge and a start on your Horse Riding Badge. To complete your Horse Riding Badge you would need to sign up for a longer riding session.
Among other things on your first visit, we will complete the following 6 things for your Horse Fan Badge:
- Visit a stable, learn about horse care, diet, shoeing and every day living,
- Show the correct and safe clothing for a horse show, safety items, pants, jackets and more,
- 3 careers associated with horses,
- Parts of saddle and bridle, how to use them and care for them,
- Famous legendary horses,
- Make a book about horses (We will give you all the materials; you will need to put it together.)
And of course we will be spending a large part of your time at Wildwind doing what you all want to do most, learning with the horses, grooming and saddling your own horse and having a riding lesson.

To complete your Horse Riding Badge will take longer than one afternoon. To earn your Horse Riding Badge, you will have to learn a number of skills while riding. You will learn to walk, trot, a posting trot, ride through an obstacle course, be able to groom and saddle your own horse, and have basic ground skills.
To book a Girl Scout Riding Lesson Package you need 5-8 participants that can attend for 6 weeks. During our Girl Scout Riding sessions each class will include a riding lesson and an educational topic about horses. Classes must be scheduled in advance and 1 or more troops may combine members to meet the 5-8 participants level.
Our regular price for riding lessons is listed in the Lesson section of the Web. If you don’t t have enough Girl Scouts to do a Scout Package you can call and sign up anytime for our regular riding lesson packages. Our Girl Scout Package will give you a discount and be specific to the things you need to learn for your Girl Scout Riding Badge.
